Cozy and comfortable bungalow on stilts on the Pacific coast

Lovely bungalow on stilts

An old stilt bungalow on the east coast of Australia was in need of a makeover. Its owners decided to give it a fresh look and make it more atmospheric, as visitors come to such homes for a vibrant tropical feel. The result is a modern beachfront bungalow overlooking the ocean surrounded by a gentle Pacific breeze.

All metal structures are finished with stainless steel powder coating, which protects against the corrosive effects of salty air. Fences, piles, transition structures and roofs are painted white, which creates a pleasing contrast to the dark turquoise walls.

Contrast dark turquoise and white

The first level of the house was occupied by a garage with a gate made of a simple clapboard, which looks quite attractive due to the dark turquoise color. In front of them was a low fence made of straight metal rods without the usual top bar. It includes two gates: double – for the gate, single – for the house.

An elliptical staircase with balustrades flowing into a small partition leads to the second floor, which turns into a veranda due to the ledge above the garage. It is supported by wooden vertical piles, which are in harmony with the fences.

The shaded veranda is one of the most pleasant places in the bungalow. The rustle of palm leaves, the gentle refreshing breeze is the perfect soothing backdrop for relaxation. On the third level there is an open space, which is ideal for sunbathing, as well as for evening or night time.

Inside the house itself, natural light fills almost the entire space through wide windows and access to the veranda. Under the ceiling of the living room and under the stairs are numerous bookshelves, which house a wonderful library of various books and magazines.

Spacious rooms

The main gamut is white colors, as well as shades of gray. This combination visually expands the space and makes it brighter. All furniture has been replaced with exceptionally modern furniture, although some elements (vanity cabinet in the bathroom, desk in the living room) retain the classic style. The same applies to the third floor. Next to the bungalow there is a small gazebo with soft sofas, around which there is a patio with original paths made of natural stone.
